Bliss Fasman Inc. Is an award-winning lighting design firm based in New York City, specializing in architectural, corporate, retail, hospitality, and museum projects. From corporate interiors to retail environments to historic museum renovations, we strive to create affordable, maintainable, and dramatic lighting environments. The hallmark of our firm is our direct involvement in every aspect of our projects. With over thirty years of combined experience, our trademark has been our simple, straightforward designs. STEVEN L. BLISS — PRINCIPAL

A lighting designer with a wide variety of projects to his credit, Steven Bliss received both his B.A. and M.A. from the William Patterson College in Wayne, New Jersey and completed his design studies at the University of Copenhagen in Denmark. He is a second-generation lighting designer having apprenticed for six years as an Associate with Donald L. Bliss, where he perfected his knowledge of technical information and design skills. He was formerly a Senior Associate with T. Kondos Associates in New York for eighteen years, where he designed varied projects throughout the world.

Mr. Bliss’s abilities in design, his creative style and wealth of experience make him an invaluable part of any project design team and are evident in his work on projects ranging from corporate offices to exhibition halls and museums. His retail projects have been yearly winners at the International Council of Shopping Centers award presentations. He has designed lighting for shopping centers, hotels, office towers, libraries and airports in the U.S. and abroad. Mr. Bliss is a member of the International Association of Lighting Designers.

GLEN R. FASMAN — PRINCIPAL

Mr. Fasman brings a varied background in the theatre into the field of architectural lighting design. His theatrical background, as both a lighting and set designer, has included work in theatre, dance, and opera, in New York, on Broadway and Off-Broadway, and in regional theatres.

Mr. Fasman has brought his theatrical flair to many varied architectural projects. As an Associate with T. Kondos Associates for three years, his varied projects included integrating theatrical lighting into retail, entertainment and mixed-use projects. His ability to integrate the subtlety of stage lighting into his architectural work or, where appropriate, his use of strong theatrical flair are a hallmark of his designs. Both, here in the United States and in many varied places throughout the world, his keen design sense and creative skill have been a valuable addition to many projects

Mr. Fasman is a graduate of Cornell University and has a Master of Fine Arts in Lighting Design from the Yale School of Drama. He is a member of the International Association of Lighting Designers, United Scenic Artists, Local 829 (the theatrical designer’s union), the Illuminating Engineering Society of North America and he is lighting certified through NCQLP.

BRIAN MOSBACHER — SENIOR ASSOCIATE

Mr. Mosbacher’s professional work experience encompasses over 18 years as a lighting designer in New York City on dozens of international, national and NYC architectural projects. His project types and clients are varied and include museums, memorials, corporate headquarters, airports, private residences, restaurants and retail centers. Mr. Mosbacher’s work has been featured in architectural and lighting design magazines.Mr. Mosbacher’s past projects have received various international lighting design awards over the years, including the IES Lumen Award, IALD International Lighting Design Award and the PLDA Award of Excellence. His has previous worked with the offices of Fisher Marantz Stone for eight years and Flack and Kurtz Lighting Design Group for two years. His career in lighting began as an IALD summer intern for the manufacturer Edison Price Lighting.

Mr. Mosbacher is a graduate of Architectural Engineering program at the Pennsylvania State University, with a specialization in Lighting Design. He is a member of the International Association of Lighting Designers, the New York Architectural League and the Municipal Arts Society. He is an active participant in community issues of his home neighborhood of Dumbo, Brooklyn.

MARIO A. MERZA — ASSOCIATE

Mario A. Merza began his career in the Interior/Architectural Design field approximately 15 years ago as a presentation artist for Hambrecht Terrell International, where he refined his technical and design skills. Subsequently, he entered the lighting design field with Domingo Gonzalez Associates, as a project designer/associate, managing projects and specializing in custom fixture detailing. He has lighting design experience in corporate offices, airports, transportation terminals, roadways, museums, schools and retail design.

Mario has a Bachelor in Fine Arts in Interior/Architecture Design and a secondary degree in Art History specializing in the Decorative Arts. He is a member of the Staten Island Historical Preservation Society.

DAVID SMITH — ASSOCIATE

David joined Bliss Fasman with a background in electric lighting and daylighting for both architectural and cultural projects. His portfolio includes works that span the globe, ranging in scale from single rooms to district masterplans. He is also an expert at daylighting analysis, including having quantified artwork exposure for many of the premier galleries and collections in the world. He also has experience designing optics and wireless control systems for LED luminaires. His lighting work has been given IALD Award of Excellence, IES Award of Merit, and New York City Design Commission honors.

David attended The Schreyer Honors College at The Pennsylvania State University where he earned a Master of Architectural Engineering and a Bachelor of Architectural Engineering with Honors. He is a member of the IES, DLFNY, and is Lighting Certified by the NCQLP.

SCOTT HALI — PROJECT DESIGNER

With deep roots in the theatrical lighting world, Mr. Hali brings a keen understanding of the technology of lighting to the Bliss Fasman team. Prior to joining Bliss Fasman, Mr. Hali worked as a Controls Systems Integrator, implementing complex controls solutions both domestically and internationally. As a lighting designer, Mr. Hali has had the honor of designing theatre and dance productions both off-broadway and throughout the NYC region. His myriad of clients have varied from local creatives to major corporate partners. He has also served as a broadcast lighting director, a manufacturer’s representative for a major theatrical lighting supplier, and a lighting programmer.

Having received his BFA in Lighting Design from The State University of New York at Purchase College, his professional design experience spans corporate, performance, and landmark lighting design in the Tri-State area.

RINKINSON GOHEL — PROJECT DESIGNER

Rinkinson Joined Bliss Fasman with prior internships experience in Architectural lighting design and pilot-based lighting research. Rinkinson has a diverse educational background in architectural engineering as well as Architecture. Rinkinson attended South Dakota State University where he earned interdisciplinarily Bachelor of General Studies with a focus on Architecture, Engineering, and Mathematics.

Rinkinson is a Calendar manager for IESNYC and committee member of Lumen awards and Students Lighting Competition. You can capture Rinkinson taking photos of his Husky, running, painting, playing table tennis, and exploring new outdoor activities. Rinkinson is a Member of the Illuminating Engineering Society and LEED GA Accredited.
